Sam Aliano is one of today’s most dynamic and versatile drummers, making his mark as a world-class performer, recording artist, author, and educator.
Alongside his career as a performer, Sam is equally respected as a
dedicated and compassionate educator. With over 30 years of teaching
experience across eight countries, he has taught students of all ages and
abilities—including those with autism, Down syndrome, and sensory
impairments. His teaching style combines creativity, structure, and inclusivity,
helping every learner reach their full potential while enjoying the process of
making music.
Since relocating from Australia to the USA in 2002, Sam has established
himself on the international stage with live and recording credits that include
Gongzilla, Lukas Rossi (Rock Star Supernova), Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Nuno
Bettencourt (Extreme), and Slash (ex-Guns N’ Roses). He has performed at
major festivals including Montreal Drum Fest, Batuka! Brazil, and Australia’s
Ultimate Drummer’s Weekend.
As an author, he co-wrote Double Bass Drumming & Power Fills Workout with
Matt Sorum (2011) and released Advanced Groove Concepts (Hal Leonard,
2018). Beyond performance, Sammy co-produced and recorded drums for the
Rock Against Trafficking charity project, collaborating with artists such as
Santana, Rob Thomas, En Vogue, and Ann & Nancy Wilson.
From small jazz ensembles to arena rock tours, from one-on-one lessons to
international clinics, Sammy Aliano continues to inspire both audiences and
students worldwide—cementing his reputation as one of the most respected
drummers and educators of modern times.
